The TIP Research Group

Dr Huang is a Postdoctoral Fellow of the TIP research group in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from the Chongqing University. His main research interests include individual behavior analysis and modelling, urban micro-simulation, complex system and agent-based modelling.

Dr Zhuge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and leads the TIP research group. He received his first PhD in Transportation from the Beijing Jiaotong University (China) and the second one in Geography from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).  His research interests include complex urban system, spatial planning, smart mobility, agent-based modelling and big data analytics.

Mr. Yang is a PhD student in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received both his Master and Bachelor degrees in Transportation from the Beijing Jiaotong University. His research interests include big data informed behavior analysis and modeling, and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure planning and management.

Shiqi Wang is a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She received the B.S. degree in Traffic Engineering from Southeast University (China) and the M.S. degree in Traffic and Transportation Planning and Management from the Beijing Jiaotong University (China). After M.S. degree, she worked at Shanghai Transport Research Center for 5 years and obtained the Intermediate Engineering Title. Her research interests include urban transportation, electric vehicle, freight vehicle, infrastructure optimization, and simulation methodology.

Zhenhan is currently a part-time Research Assistant (RA) in LSGI, PolyU and a PhD student at KU Leuven.  He received his master degree in Geomatics from PolyU and bachelor degree in Land Resource Management from Southwest University. His research work focuses on the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, fuel options for electric mobility, spatial big data analysis, and large-scale micro-simulation.

Justin has been working as a part-time Research Assistant at PolyU under Dr. Zhuge since June 2020. He received a BSc (Hons) degree in Land Surveying and Geo-informatics with First Class Honours in 2022 at PolyU, where he ranked first in his class. He is currently pursuing a Master degree in Environmental Science at HKUST. His research interests include transportation planning, travel behavior, geoinformatics, and spatial agent-based modeling.

Yuan is a full-time Research Assistant in the the TIP research group. She obtained her bachelor degree in Geographic Information Science from Hunan Normal University, and her Master student in Geomatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interests include text mining, smart mobility, and spatial big data analysis.

Junbei Liu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She received her B.S. degree from Hunan Normal University in 2019, and her M.S. degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2021. Her main research interests include agent-based modelling, diffusion of low-carbon technologies, and urban micro-simulation.

Her main research interests include agent-based modelling, diffusion of low-carbon technologies, and urban micro-simulation.

Songzi Zhou is a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She received the Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) and the Master’s degree in Urban Design from the National University of Singapore (Singapore). After Master’s degree, she worked at Vanke Co., Ltd for 2 years as a design project manager. Her research interests include smart mobility, Mobility-as-a-Service, big data analytics and simulation methodology.

Zhiruo is a Research Assistant in the the TIP research group and is also a Master student in Geomatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her bachelor degree in Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning from Beijing Normal University. Her research interests include agent-based modelling, water and energy use behavior, and urban micro-simulation.

Chen Ding is a part-time Research Assistant in LSGI, PolyU under the supervision of Dr. Zhuge and is also a Master student in Geomatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his bachelor degree in Geographic Information Science from Nanjing Normal University. His research interests include urban transportation and spatio-temporal simulation of human behavior.

Ying Zhang is a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and a recipient of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship. She earned her Bachelor of Engineering degree in Landscape Architecture from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) and her Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Tsinghua University (China). After completing her Master degree, she worked as a landscape engineer at the Changjiang Water Resources Committee for three years. Her research interests include pedestrian behavior simulation and the assessment of walkability using digital twin technology, spatial analysis, and agent-based modeling.

Ruichen Ma is a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He obtained his Master and Bachelor degrees in Transportation both from Beijing Jiaotong University in 2021 and 2024, respectively. In 2023, he studied Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology as an exchange student. Ruichen has also gained valuable experience as an intern and consultant at the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT). His research focuses on urban transportation, electric vehicles, and simulation methodologies.

Zili Tian is a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received his B.S. degree in Traffic Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University (China) and M.S. degree in Transportation from Tongji University (China). His research interests include electric vehicle, sustainability of public transport and agent-based modelling.

Enyuan Cao is a PhD student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received dual Bachelor degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and the University of Glasgow. He then received a Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include text mining and big data analytics.

Xinyi DENG is a part-time Research Assistant in the TIP research group. She received her Bachelor degree in Land Resource Management from Huazhong Agriculture University and now she is a Master student in Urban Informatics and Smart Cities at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interests include urban transportation, agent-based modelling, and urban micro-simulation.
